The Cultural Mapping Programme by Mulloway Studio – Hart’s Mill precinct In 2007 Mulloway Studio were commissioned to undertake the first stage of the Port Adelaide Waterfront Cultural Mapping and Survey project. The project continued over three stages and was completed in 2011, with the last stage including Hart’s Mill and the Adelaide Milling Company buildings. The impetus for the Cultural Mapping project actually came from the Port of Adelaide Branch of the National Trust – with many buildings and structures having already been demolished to make way for the waterfront redevelopment, the branch urged the Land Management Corporation to undertake the vital work of documenting cultural history in Port Adelaide. Cultural Mapping of these buildings and the land surrounding them involved study and documentation of the tangible such as structures, artefacts and remnant industrial activities, and the intangible: stories, memories and themes relevant to the Mills and the Port waterfront. The two items included here in the GRIT exhibition were but a small part of the invaluable work carried out by Mulloway Studio. #60 Adelaide Milling Company Building 1887–1894: Cross Section 2016
